The American Anti-Corruption Institute (AACI) is pleased to announce the launch of a new interactive learning experience dedicated to its latest anti-corruption governance concept:

The Anti-Corruption Trap explains how organizations, institutions, and governments can become caught in recurring anti-corruption responses that signal commitment but fail to produce meaningful reductions in exposure to corruption.
The Anti-Corruption Trap website moves readers beyond passive reading. It invites stakeholders to actively examine the concept, explore its structure, test their understanding, and consider the evidence required to distinguish anti-corruption activity from anti-corruption effectiveness.
Since its launch, the Site has been further enhanced with guided educational features, including a composite fictional case, illustrative evidence to examine, a session-only warning-indicator reflection tool, framework, and Knowledge Check progress indicators, explored-step identification, and an educational grouping of the eight contributing conditions. These additions support learning and comprehension without altering the official Anti-Corruption Trap concept or collecting visitors’ personal information.
Visitors can:
- read the official definition and core proposition;
- explore the eight-step Anti-Corruption Trap Framework;
- follow a composite fictional case across all eight steps;
- examine illustrative evidence associated with each stage of the trap;
- review warning indicators and use a session-only reflection tool;
- identify which framework steps they have explored during the current session;
- examine why institutions may fall into the trap through three educational groupings of the contributing conditions;
- watch official AACI videos explaining the concept and its dynamics;
- work through fictional institutional scenarios;
- distinguish activity, implementation, and effectiveness;
- complete a knowledge check, receive immediate feedback, and review a Learning Summary.
The experience is designed for boards, executives, public officials, regulators, auditors, compliance professionals, educators, researchers, students, nonprofit leaders, and others entrusted with governance, oversight, decision-making, or anti-corruption responsibilities.
Most significantly, access is open.
Visitors do not need to sign in, create an account, provide credentials, register, or submit personal information. The Anti-Corruption Trap website is free to access, read, explore, and use.
The purpose is not merely to communicate a new concept. It is to help stakeholders question recurring assumptions, examine whether anti-corruption initiatives are producing evidence of results, and identify where institutional learning and corrective action may be failing.
The Anti-Corruption Trap website is the first in a planned series of dedicated interactive webpages through which selected anti-corruption and governance concepts within the AACI Framework will be made available to the public in an active-learning format. Each webpage will be designed to help readers move from awareness to understanding, from understanding to questioning, and from questioning to more informed action.
