When there is not a rule of law,
When elections for public office are priced and bought by affluents,
When there is not an independent judiciary,
When politicians do not hear their constituents’ voice,
When unemployment and poverty rates are on the rise,
When nepotism prevails,
When public officers are not accountable for their deeds including looting public funds, taking bribes, and selling their power,
Then, one must not be surprised when the socio-economic and political fabric of society collapse. Such an environment provides an exceptional opportunity for corruption to spread like a wildfire.
Real citizens are patriotic corruption fighters. However, they should understand that the effective fight of corruption must be based on anti-corruption knowledge and civil means. Fighting corruption does not mean chaos.
